Eight South African judges will participate in the upcoming Intercontinental Judges Courses in Lausanne, Switzerland, from 27 November to 10 December 2024. This course brings together top-tier gymnastics judges from around the world to refine their skills and prepare for the next competition cycle.

Participation in these courses requires a Brevet 3 qualification or higher and extensive competition experience during the current cycle. The inclusion of South African coaches highlights the impressive skills and dedication within the federation, demonstrating a commitment to excellence on a global stage.

The South African delegation includes:

  • Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG): Bobby Budai (GAU) and Jannie van Vuuren (FS)
  • Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG): Robyn Mueller (KZN) and Allison Beyers (GAU)
  • Trampoline (TRA): Tiaan van der Walt (GAU) and Nikki van der Walt (GAU)
  • Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG): Debbie Gordon (WC)
  • Acrobatic Gymnastics (ACRO): Dmitry Demianenko (GAU)

The courses are designed to advance technical knowledge, ensure consistent judging standards, and equip judges for major international events, including the Olympic Games. “Having eight South African judges attending the Intercontinental Judges Courses is a significant achievement for gymnastics in South Africa,” shared Caron Henry, Participation Manager at Gymnastics South Africa. “This reflects the federation’s commitment to developing judges who can excel on the world stage.
