Incredible Gymnastics Week 2025: Bringing Gymnastics to New Audiences

Gymnastics South Africa has announced the return of Incredible Gymnastics Week, set to take place from 14 – 21 March 2025. First introduced in 2023, the initiative aims to introduce gymnastics to a wider audience and encourage participation in schools and clubs across the country.

“The campaign is designed to highlight the accessibility of gymnastics and its benefits for people of all ages, ability and fitness levels. Clubs and schools across South Africa will take part by hosting activities that showcase gymnastics in a fun and engaging way,” explained Marti Heri, Development Manager of Gymnastics South Africa. 

As part of the initiative, clubs are encouraged to host an Open Day, inviting local schools, senior citizens homes, special-needs groups, or other community organizations to experience gymnastics firsthand. Clubs may also visit schools and community groups to introduce the sport to new participants.

According to Caron Henry, Participation Manager of Gymnastics South Africa, “This is an opportunity for clubs to engage with their local communities and inspire new participants to explore gymnastics. The more we expose people to the sport, the more we can grow the gymnastics community.”

Another key component of the week is the Club-Promo Challenge, which invites registered gymnastics clubs to create and share short, engaging videos on social media and share them between 14 March to 21 March. The best videos will win a share of R 30 000 in prizes , and all entries will help showcase gymnastics clubs and what they have to offer. “We want clubs to highlight their unique energy and passion for gymnastics. “This challenge is about having fun and showing the vibrancy of our gymnastics community,” added Adele Heine, President of Gymnastics South Africa, emphasizing the importance of this challenge. 

Throughout the week, Gymnastics SA will also feature a content series called ‘Love My Discipline,’ where gymnasts and coaches from various disciplines will share their experiences and insights about their specific disciplines with the goal being to educate a broader audience about the different aspects of gymnastics and encourage participation at all levels.

With clubs nationwide participating, Incredible Gymnastics Week 2025 promises to be an exciting celebration of the sport, bringing gymnastics to new audiences and strengthening the community.
